Dahshur pyramids

أهرامات دهشور

Sneferu's Bent and Red pyramids, the experiments that led to the Great Pyramid.

Dahshur, south of Saqqara, preserves two pyramids built by King Sneferu, father of Khufu: the Bent Pyramid, whose angle changes partway up, and the Red Pyramid, regarded as the first successful smooth-sided true pyramid. Together they show the experiments that led to the Great Pyramid at Giza, in a quieter desert setting with fewer visitors.
